Missing: health problems
Guan Chang Fu Fang (GCFF) is a natural compound, which is extracted from three medicinal plants, Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb., Patrinia scabiosaefolia and Solanum nigrum L. GCFF has demonstrated clinical efficacy in the treatment of colon cancer. At present, 5‑fluorouracil (5‑FU) is the primary active chemotherapeutic agent used for treating colon cancer. Using median‑effect and apoptosis analyses, fluorescence microscopy and western blotting, the present study analyzed the association between GCFF and 5‑FU in the human colon adenocarcinoma LoVo cell line. The effect of GCFF on the expression of chemotherapeutic agent‑associated genes was also investigated. The results of the synergistic analysis revealed that GCFF exhibited a significant effect upon 5‑FU‑associated cytotoxicity within the LoVo cell line. This effect was observed over a broad dose‑inhibition range (5‑95%), but was particularly significant in the lower concentrations. The flow cytometry results revealed that low doses of GCFF or 5‑FU induced S‑phase arrest, as did a low‑dose combination of the two drugs. After 48 h, GCFF significantly suppressed the expression levels of the chemotherapeutic agent resistance‑associated genes within the colon cancer cells. The western blot analysis revealed that the combined effects of 5‑FU and GCFF were due to a regulation of the B‑cell lymphoma‑2 family of proteins. The findings of the present study suggested that GCFF, when combined with 5‑FU, has the potential to be a novel, chem...

Objective To determine the status of violence in hospitals and to confirm the high risk settings of violence. Methods A cross-sectional study was adopted.T he workers in some hospitals were investigated by cluster sampling. Results 215 workers were exposed to violence among 505 workers. The incidence rate of violence was 42.6 percentage.Among all types of violence, verbal violence was the most common, accounting for 67.7 percentage. The most high-risk office in hospital was emergency rooms, followed by clinical laboratory or image, outpatient department and pediatric rooms. The influences of violence on workers varied from light impact to suicidal ideation.Once exposed to violence, the workers might argue with patients. Conclusion The violence had an important health problem. The education should be developed and the relationship between doctor and patient should be disposed correctly in order to protect the workers safe and ensure the natural health services.

Mental disorders impose heavy burdens on patients’ families and children. It is imperative to provide family-focused services to avoid adverse effects from mental disorders on patients’ families and children. However, implementing such services requires a great deal of involvement of mental health workers. This study investigated the attitudes, knowledge, skills, and practices in respect to family-focused practices (FFP) in a sample of Chinese mental health workers. A cross-sectional study design was employed to examine the attitudes, knowledge, skills, and practices of a convenience sample of Chinese mental health workers in respect to FFP, using the Chinese version of the Family-Focused Mental Health Practice Questionnaire (FFMHPQ). In total, 515 mental health workers participated in our study, including 213 psychiatrists, 269 psychiatric nurses, and 34 allied mental health professionals (20 clinical psychologists, 9 mental health social workers, and 4 occupational therapists). Compared with psychiatric nurses, psychiatrists and allied mental health professionals provided more support for families and children of patients with mental illness and were more willing to receive further training in FFP. However, there were no significant differences on knowledge, skills, and confidence across different profession types. After adjusting for demographic and occupational variables, previous training in FFP was positively associated with mental health workers’ knowledge, skills, and...
