Setting Up a Custom Gamerpic for Your Profile

Now you know how to change your gamerpic in general, you can get started setting up a custom gamerpic.

You could even take this a step further and learn how to design your very own gamerpic to create your own, completely unique profile picture for your Xbox account.

There are two main ways to set up a custom gamerpic on Xbox: through your console itself or the Xbox app.

Choosing Your Custom Gamerpic on Your Xbox

In order to use your console to select a custom gamerpic, you will need to ensure that the image you want to use is connected to your console via a USB device and is at least 1080x1080 pixels in size.

Then, on the console itself:

  • Navigate to the Change gamerpic options, using the steps above for changing your gamerpic.

It is important to note that Xbox consoles used to use OneDrive to enable users to select PNG or JPG images from their OneDrive storage, but this feature has since been removed.

Choosing a Custom Gamerpic on the Xbox App

To set up a custom gamerpic without the need to use an external USB device, you can use the Xbox app and your photo library.

To choose a custom gamerpic through the Xbox app, simply:

  • Load up the app and select your gamerpic icon at the bottom right of the screen to open the Profile tab.
  • Select the edit icon above your profile picture to open your gamerpic options.
  • Choose the photo library icon and select the image you want as your gamerpic.
  • Pinch and drag the circle to crop the image, and select Upload.

Your new gamerpic should appear, but don't worry if it doesn't immediately. Also, remember that you can also use the Xbox app to block and report users amongst other features.

Why Your Custom Gamerpic Might Not Appear Straight Away

Regardless of your chosen method of selecting and uploading your custom gamerpic, Microsoft will verify any image you choose to use.

Microsoft aims to ensure every user's online safety and wants to ensure that no harmful or indecent images are uploaded to the Xbox platform for anyone to see.

Unfortunately, this may mean that there is a slight delay in your custom image appearing on your Xbox profile while Microsoft verifies your uploaded image.
